John and I met a local college bar in Orlando, Florida at my sorority sister's 21st birthday on January 5, 2011. At first he was just the cute guy on the pool table beside ours that I kept eyeballing all night, as did he. By the end of the night, we had exchanged numbers and started hanging out. The rest is history from there.
How We Got Engaged
We got engaged during the craziest week possible. We had moved to Warner Robins, Georgia and were traveling down to Orlando, Florida for a previous commitment on a Wednesday morning, Halloween morning. We drove down to Orlando on Tuesday morning. After spending the evening with some friends, we woke up early on Wednesday and headed to downtown. Since we were so close, we decided to make a trip to Sarasota for a quick visit with his family that evening. John decided to take me to dinner at a nice sushi restaurant where you needed reservations. I was a little suspicious, but my massive headache kept me distracted. After dinner, John and I decided to head to Siesta Key Beach for a sunset walk on the beach. On the way there, he pretended to get lost on his way. I should have known better, afterall he lived in Sarasota for 10 years. When we got to the beach, there appeared to be a fire in the distance. I said "I bet its some stupid high school kids thinking they're cool." So we walked towards it. The closer we got, it became clear. The "fire" was luminaries set up in the shape of a heart with roses and rose petals covering the ground with his brother in law's camera set up to capture the whole engagement on film. It was perfect.
About the Ring
My ring is gorgeous. It has three stones in the middle with the large center diamond raised surrounded by a band of diamonds. I was very specific in telling John exactly what I wanted.
Our Shared Interests
We love spending time with our dog together. He is like our first child. We love taking walks on the beach as well and going out and trying new restaurants. Anytime we are together is a good time.
Our Favorite Date Night
Our go-to when we both need a night out is either Square-1 Burgers, Ruby Tuesday,or any bar on the beach.
What Part of the Wedding Are You Most Excited About?
I am most excited about our venue. It is gorgeous. We didn't even pull into the drive before I told John this is it. It is a huge cedar barn down a dirt road in the middle of a pecan orchard.
Our Relationship in Three Words
Live Laugh Love.
Live - we understand that we must communicate about everything, especially the little things. Our lives are not two separtate lives, but now are becoming one.
Laugh - laughter is the most important part of our relationship. Its important to have someone who can keep you laughing and smiling, even when you feel like giving up and crying.
Love - without love, we have nothing. loving John is easy. It's never been work. I knew shortly after meeting him, that I was falling in love with him and there's never been a moment where I've second guessed how I feel about him. At the end of the day, all that matters is I love him and he loves me.
